I recommend you watch in high quality for the best possible audio.

This is a jam to test out my newest toys the Roland JX-3P synthesizer, the Roland JSQ-60 sequencer and the Teac A 4300SX that I was given in Florida (Thanks Madge!). This is by no means a finished track but it's the basic idea for one and I might put the time in and make a full track of it.

For the gear nerds out there

Synth - Roland JX-3P & Juno-60
Drums - Roland TR-707, TR-727, MC-303 (kick) as well as Casio RZ-1 for its sweet cowbell and claps
Samples - SP-808
Sequencer - Roland JSQ-60

There are 4 types of interface working together here Din (from the JSQ to the 7x7s) MIDI (from the 7x7s to the MC-303 & RZ-1) trigger signal (from the 727 to the JX-3P's sequencer) and DCB (from the JSQ to the Juno)

  • The Jx3p is truly an under-rated synth, and with the new upgrade available for it by KiwiTechnics, it turns it into a monster. kiwitechnics com

I just sold a Jx3p fully modded in Miami, FL area.

  • @hiphopdied1213 I don't normally go for mods but that one looks to be superbly thought out and executed, I have to say I am tempted. I haven't really got the cash at the moment but I might give that a go at some point in the future.

    Thanks for the tip :)

  • Play Frankie Knuckles feat Robert Owens 'Tears' As it's a great acapella to experiment doing deep house with. Listen to some vintage Larry Heard too!

Good luck with the production course - like the hardware too.

  • @davethedoobie I must have missed this comment when you first posted it but you are right, the acapella should go over the top a treat, I have tears on a compilation LP but I will have to hunt down the single now to get that acapella.

Oh and Larry Heard goes without saying, have you heard the 25 Years From Alpha EP he released a couple of years ago? Back to the oldschool production techniques and sounding deeped than ever.
