Called to attend to a pub brawl, PC Tony Stamp and PC Dave Quinnan are stunned to find one man unconscious and the other Sun Hill's own DS Ted Roach. Roach is taken back to the station, and while DI Frank Burnside manages to persuade the victim to drop the charges against him, nothing can be done when Roach headbutts Insp. Andrew Monroe during a heated argument.

  • The 1988-1998 era of the "The Bill" was first rate. The first three years (1984-1987), the show was establishing itself and it's identity. Then the 1998-2001 era saw a more personal shift towards the characters lives.

However when "The Bill" became a serialised show in 2002 - courtesy of Paul Marquess, the series started to resemble a soap with characters sleeping with each other and the death rate going through the roof....

This episode represents the golden age of "The Bill".....

  • Fuck Brownlow Ted Roach Was & Still Is The Best DS Ever On The Bill. Even His Fights With DI Galloway & DI Burnside Were Legendary.

  • Many thanks for discovering it in Australia. Many people have actually accused me of imagining it, so it's great being proved right even if it was only 3 hour-long episodes and not 7. LOL..

  • @WarrenThwaites - In Australia series 1 - 4 has been released on DVD. Should be available online. More to come. The older stuff is far better than 1998 on ward.

  • Don't forget those 7 much earlier hour long episodes shown back in 1970. Filmed using various locations in both Chiswick and Islington, it was those, along with the same theme music and the cobble-walking, which really set the scene for when the series was eventually resurrected in 1984, although with a completely new bunch of actors. That single season of episodes might not have the flair of the later series but I still wish someone would dig them out so we can all watch them agan.

  • how will part 3 start?

  • Thank you for this as one wasn't old enough to ee the original ( and best ) fo the bill.

  • Brownlow hated him

  • lol! this clip ends right on the magic moment
