This version (2010) written by Don White for Ranbir Bhatia's 70th Birthday
The original version of this song, Over Fifty Blues, was written 20 years ago for Ranbir's 50th Birthday. It then sat on the shelf for fifteen years until it was resurrected as the Over Sixty Blues for another birthday. Since then it has become a staple in the repertoire of Grateful We're Not Dead and is included in most of their performances.
The song first appeared on CBC Radio in January 2009 during an interview of the band by Julie Ireton on Adrian Harewood's All In A Day. It was featured a few weeks later on the CBC Radio One show Bandwidth, hosted by Alan Neal. With those two interviews Grateful We're Not Dead and the Over Sixty Blues had achieved ten of their fifteen minutes of fame.
It is only fitting that it be modified for the birthday of the man who was the inspiration for the original version.
