On 08/29/2005 I was in downtown New Orleans on assignment for The Weather Channel and I was the freelance videographer "Weather Paparazzi" who stayed in the city to document the storm while everyone else evacuated the area. This footage was shot at dawn during the morning hours as Hurricane Katrina eye wall ripped apart the city. I shot this footage on Canal Street and in the French Quarter. I was outside getting hit by debris and almost died to get this video. I was the only one out in the storm on Canal Street shooting video and getting blasted by the deadly flying debris. This is part of the BNVN Weather Paparazzi stock video collection. Visit www.WeatherPaparazzi.com for more information and stock video license rates.

  • That "wind and rain" was Hurricane Katrina. It devastated New Orleans, Billoxi, Gulfport and many other areas from Florida to Texas. Have some respect please for the people who suffered and perished in this terrible disaster. I am from England and all over the country we were praying it wouldnt directly hit New Orleans. Think of all those people whose lives have been destroyed by this "wind and rain" before you make smart arse comments like that

  • I see some self roightous idioits postimg mean and hurtful things here about New Orleans anf the people who love here. I want no part of any "god" that would willfully visit such destruction on people in this way. You make a great case for those of us who do not need the crutch of a judgemental "god" in our lives. Please stay far far away from New Orleans please. We do not like you type here.

  • it's very sad...

but it's an actuallity that nobody will be able to avert their eyes from or exponge their ears to.

when it happens, the people who will have the best chances of survival will be the ones who are cognitive enough to recognize this disaster for what it is, and act accordingly.

  • in short, only the best, brightest, and physically fit will survive.

in time the weak, inadaquate, and inept will die to make way for those who can adapt to their enviornment the best.

I am not with nor against this.

    that's just how it is.

  • at this point, the cosmos-wide element of destruction sets in to destroy the excess until the ecosystem in which we live in is depopulized to a sustainable level. in a disaster like this, except on a world wide scale the process of destruction would take anywhere between 5-10yrs. after 10yrs. , only the intelligent, educated, strong, and physically fit will have survived to pass on their genes to the next generation. at which point the world will go towards creation once again.

  • as a taoist, I have to say that god or not both destruction and creation have their place in the cosmos. humans grow and expand, and when they reach their population's climax and there isn't enough resorces to go around, the "have nots"

mainly, the ignorant people who either don't have the cognative ability to prepare, or do but didn't because they discounted the small possibility of such disasters. these people usually die, or they resort to violence to survive.

  • you know the racist comment that the gop makes about the poor black people ,tells me that these bastards left those inocen katrina victims out there to die on purpose ,cause they were black people no hurry from them ,unless thier all white

  • @goodlife404 Yes I still don't understand why either. I'm from New Orleans and they said mandatory evacuation, which means you have to leave. But they didn't have weeks to leave, a evacuation order was only out 2 days before the storm hit. But still, thats plenty enough time to leave.

  • Think of all those people whose lives have been destroyed by this "wind and rain".

But just can not understand why they didn`t leave when they were told to get out. They had days even weeks to get out of there and they chose to stay.

  • omg that guy was outside when there was a hurricane coming ahhhh

    i would be shittin myself
