Flame is my 7 week old German Shepherd Puppy. She ate her first raw chicken meal today, a drum stick.

  • do you clean her every time she's done? wouldn't this spread salmonella all over?

  • @Theavenue22 This is a very good question. She only eats outside and I occasionally clean the floor with diluted chlorine. I never had a problem.

  • Vets will say that if you feed your dog raw that it will make them agressive but that is just to scare the owners into buying the clinics grain based diets such as science diet and royal canin which is actually worse for the dog then raw. Dogs are supposed to have a mixture of raw meat, organs and bones to maintain a healthy body weight, teeth and coat. It also helps to make their breath. That is their natural DIET not kibble made from CEREAL! i know this because i worked at an animal hospital.

  • @xshawtiex Well said. Thank you for the comment.

  • Vet is ignorant. I bet he pushes Science Diet which is grain based & after many recalls, vets are still pushing it. My dogs & cats have been eating raw for six years & are very healthy.

Many pets today have dental disease by age 3 & cancer, heart disease, allergies, diabetes & obesity are increasing.

  • @tmhteacher Great. What do you feed your cats? I just adopted two kittens.

  • @SG02JATT Vets spend an average of 8 hours on pet nutrition. Most of the nutrition classes are sponsored by commercial pet food companies like Iams and pedigree. The easiest way to see what your animal should be eating is to look at what they are biologically designed (look at their teeth) to eat. Do you see any flat molars in a dogs mouth for grinding plants and grains? Nope. Dogs are carnivores. They eat meat.

  • @xshawtiex

    vets spend years in university

they know more than you can even imagine

  • For those asking about bones, those saying cooked are mostly right -- it's mostly Baking and BBQ that makes the bones brittle, if you're going to cook your meat and not give it to them raw, then slow-cook it with some veggies or something for their food, 10-or so hours, the bones will be soft enough even you can eat them without a problem. Check out DrGregDVM 's channel, he has a couple of vids on this topic

  • is it okay to feed your pups raw chicken with bone like above video when they're teething..?

    thx..

  • @xshawtiex umm, can I cook the meat? Or get like boneless chicken? or maybe boneless raw meat? I'm pretty sure those are fine but I wanted to check.

  • @carolis212 only when cooked, raw bones do not splinter. you should ALWAYS supervise your pet when feeding them raw though

  • isn't she kind of young for weight bearing bones? chicken backs, necks, ribs will be less hard on her developing teeth.

  • chicken bones are dangerous for a dog because they splinter

  • Is there a choking hazard? I mean yeah in real life animals eat other animals but...you know..? lol
