  • I saw baby ray at the derby night club in nashville tennessee on 8 th ave. this was back in the late 60s easrly 70s. he was the rage back then. i like his singing style. don't know what every happening. to him.. i was surprised to here him on you tube thanks for the post. it makes you think way back.

  • @freebyrd915 Nice version of 'Just Because'. I've had the 'Something On Your Mind' single for 40 years or more, and still love it, but never knew a thing about Baby Ray Eddlemon until today. If you get the chance to upload more from the LP, here's one cat'll be grateful :-))

  • I remember this song from when I was 8 . My sister would play the 45 for me over and over again. I wasn't allowed to touch her records : ) His voice, this song introduced me to a new style of music. By my teens in the 70's I was listening to Rock but never forgot this song. Then to my surprise in the 80's I heard the Oak Ridge Boys singing "Elvira" That was the song on the flip side of "Just Because". After that my sister gave me the 45. I'll post the song if no one else does.

  • As a big fan of Louisiana music I had to admit haven´t ever heard of Baby Ray...Many thanks for this post!

  • Baby Ray or Ray Eddelmon was orginally from East St.Louis and was based out of the Derby Club in Nashville . He was one of those white guys of the 60s who grew up on the blues music that was so unpopular with the adults but loved by us young musicians in the south.... I got to work with Baby for about three months at the Derby as his guitar player ... but in truth he was a better player than me ... great player but no dicipline

could have been huge but he looked too much like Elmer Fudd.

  • Great track. And choice. His version of There's Something On Your MInd is minding blowing. Thanks Mum and Dad for having great taste in music. Bless you xx . And for allowing me to play them!! Hahaha

  • @rockin1953 Yes he was a New Orleans recording artist . This cut I got from his original L.P. "The House Where Soul Lives." Has alot of other great cuts. He recorded for Imperial Records. Last I heard He moved to Ohio. I'll try to transfer all L.P. to cd and post as soon as I can. Thanks for your comments.
