Several groups in West Virginia gathered outside of the Daniel Boone Hotel, which houses U.S. Sen. Rockefeller's office, on December 1st, 2009 to ask the senator to support a strong climate change bill. A press conference took place afterwards, as well as a meeting with Rockefeller's state director.

The purpose of the Climate Change rally was to bring attention to the weak climate change bill currently being debated, yet stalled, in the Senate Finance Committee of which Sen. Jay Rockefeller is a part of. Activists participating in the rally want the bill stronger, decreasing more CO2 emissions than the bill currently contains, to allow science to dictate what is necessary in regards to emission standards and to put more federal dollars into green jobs and renewable energy. They also want the legislation to cut any and all financing of "clean coal technology," funding for new power plants, and nuclear energy.

Groups in attendance: WV Environmental Council, Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition, UE 170, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Charleston, 1SKY WV.
