Communities In Schools of Chicago: Powerful Partnerships

Communities In Schools of Chicago (CISC) forges innovative partnerships between Chicago public schools and community-based service organizations. These partner hospitals, non-profits, universities, individuals and charitable foundations provide a range of essential services that address the social, emotional and health needs of students at more than 150 Chicago public schools.

One powerful example of how CISC's agency partnerships impact students is its long-term relationship with the Luxottica corporation and its Gift of Sight charitable foundation. For more than 10 years, CISC and Luxottica have collaborated to provide 40,000 Chicago public students with critical eye exams and glasses through a series of innovative vision clinics. Students participating in these clinics obtain more than just a pair of new glasses; they leave with a newfound sense of hope and confidence that can help them succeed in the classroom.
