Trainspotting, Requiem for a Dream, and The Basketball Diaries is better than this. Even though Flight was about Alcohol, it's not as emotional.

The logic on the ending was completely non sensical. The decision he makes in the end ultimately ties together the themes that have been laid out the whole movie and also completes the arc of Denzel Washingtons character. If he would have got away with it then I think it would have been bullshit, the decision he makes is logically for his character at that point in his life and if you dont see it then your missing out on what is actually a really powerful, evocative and well done movie.
