Derek Roddy jamming with Serpents Rise.
For those wanting to know about the kick drum sound...
There are no triggers used on any drum.
(Although...this is about as fast as you can play and get away with not using them)
I used some clear packing tape, a dime for beater impact point, the head was a remo pinstripe with a pillow inside the drum. The front head is standard logo sonor head.
The tuning is as loose as I can get it without the head coming off the drum.

Cheers.
D.

  • a trigger is a electronic device that you can attach to your drums. it connects to a module and to a P.A. or amplified speakers. basicly, it can give an acoustic drum kit the ability to sound like a electric drum set. most death metal drummers will trigger they're bass drums because it really helps the kicks.. idk be heard better.

  • roddy has tons of different beats. ever listen to hate eternal at all? or any of the videos of him on here doing little grooves? he is quite multi-faceted. to say his beats are all the same is simply ignorant.

  • Hi D,

Where can I buy the Serpents Rise and Traumedy CD's? I just want to listen them and I can't even find a place to download them-_-''. Though I want to buy them ofc.

  • @DEADMANSJOURNAL and your name isnt gay? fuck off cumrag

  • @JOEYJORDlS0N no, its not laggy, when derek roddy drums, the earth tilts causing the camera to shit itself. also, gay name.

  • @watchyourst3p They're not built in. The Axis E-kits are just attached to the pedal rather than the bass drum, as is the case with most conventional triggers. And just because he has triggers attached to his pedals doesn't mean he can't turn them off. Derek is trying to show people that it's possible to still play metal without triggers - he's trying to improve his own power as well.

  • damn read the description. It says he was not using triggers. goddamn people will argue this yet wont take the time to read.

  • the camera is so fuckin laggy haha

  • Are you being serious? Have you ever heard a real bass drum? His heads are just loose which gives it a slight slap sound. If he was using triggers every single stroke would sound the same as the other and when he does his blasts, and gets into the higher double bass speeds some strokes are quieter than others.

  • he has triggers built in his axis pedals.

if u ever heard how a real bass drum sounds u know that THERES TRIGGERS ALL OVER THIS SONG!

Im not saying its a bad thing, u actually need triggers for extreme speeds otherwise your playing gets all fucked up because of the reverberation of the large drum.

  • Those meinl cymbals really kick ass, same with snare.

  • They are not triggers, ok?
