  • "Dance is showing off that's what dancers do we go on stage and show people what we can do..." - oh god. poor you.

i agree - chill out on critics. it's you tube, don't put it on if you have so much urge to defend yourself.

and what about that finger (?!)

  • @peterbenis

"oh god poor you" ? don't asume pitty on my behalf. i am perfectly happy and i don't need pity, form u or from "god" and i am going to defend myself, i love what i do 2 much for people to just take a quick little glance at a "youtube" video and make comments, and more often than not seem to forget they are looking at a person so it's not just youtube it's a video of ME on youtue. so i will defend myself. and the finger! it can be whatever you want it to be. thats art.!

  • I do like Rambert dance Co...my first ever performance i saw was Ghost Dance.

This reminded more of some of the performance they do that i describe as "showing off!"...its not to criticize you as a performer because you are good but its just a serious of moves showing what you can do...nothing links and blends together...there maybe expression on your face but not in the moves...that is because of the style...i just dont like this style :S

  • @JeremyScottThompson Dance is showing off that's what dancers do we go on stage and show people what we can do, even the greatest and humble of dancers have a showing off streak 2 them. I don't really agree with you on the "un-expressive movement", because i feel all movement is expressive, regardless of context or style, you learn as dancer 2 accept everyones movement style as a personal extension of their expression & personality. u might not like it, but that's not so say it's un-expressive.!

  • @sophiarocksyourworld the sorcerers apprentice, I think

  • @herculiez25r and @JeremyScottThompson of course dancing kind of is showing off skill, as a dancer one should be proud of what you achieve, what you can do and want to present it to the world. but in my opinion, dance is mainly art, expression of emotion, telling a story. the reason I, personally, dance, is, because the moments i dance are the ones I feel the most myself. Dancing allows me to express myself more than anything else could.

  • @MJLongman Hey, yeah of course you can.. listen it was not an easy task, and you will get allot of negativity and people thinking you will never make it, and then when you do you got the guys who were dancing since they were 3 or 4, and when you pass them out in terms of technique and artistry, they get jealous.. brush them aside, defend yourself and your art passionately. people like to push others down, DON'T let them.. :) i wish you so much luck with your career, keep me posted.. :)

  • @herculiez25r Hey, it's great to know that you only started 4.5 years before this video. I'm a late starter myself, or rather I started early with a four year gap in the middle and am now trying to relearn it all. It's good to see that perhaps I can make it somewhere too.

  • brilliant! Your an amazing dancer and i loved the routine, what music piece is this?

  • Yes we ALL dancers strive for some attention at some point, but lets not forget that what we do is art. Lets give the dude some credit, some of us were lucky to be born flexible, some had to work hard on that, and I'm guessing you would want to show it off once you achieve it, ;P

  • @JeremyScottThompson Uuhhh...dude, this is NOT Ballet, I can assure you that. I do, however, agree with you that the choreography looks indeed a little too "showy" (and at times it rather looks like a class work or a gymnastic routine ) , personally, even if it had TONS of facial expressions, it keeps saying, Look at me! In a less humble kind of way.
