because they're better than Apple. They (lenovo) actually sell a real product and don't rely on marketing and "cool" design to sell an overpriced machine. Unlike you, they don't care about status or if they cute mac matches their purse.

@TodaysRapSucks: The "dated" built like a tank look is a trademark, just like the apple. At least that's what I and my engineering colleagues feel. Fruit doesn't go with mechanical engineers ;) We like it the Lenovo way ;)
But joke aside, I also think Lenovo could make the look more appealing, but on the other side - never change a working concept. :)

@mandolinroad - I agree that Apple makes some nice laptops, but IMO Lenovo has an edge in 2 areas. First, the keyboard; Apple's keyboards have never held a candle to Thinkpads'. Second, Lenovo actually makes things like RAM, the hard drive, etc, easy to get at.
And the Air nice kit, but better build quality than Thinkpads? Maybe compared to some of the lower-end laptops Lenovo makes, but against a comparable machine (E.g. an x301/x201), the Lenovo is probably going to come out on top.

@TodaysRapSucks I like Lenovo because they make quality products. Quality products from a physical point of view. Which is not very common, I'm sad to say. However, so does Apple. You can like or dislike their design but having owned a Macbook Air (for example) for 2+ years I can testify that there is not a single laptop out there with a build quality to match. It's just stunning. That quality is what I paid for when I bought it.

this is my dream laptop. I've been always using Thinkpads, and one time I dreamed about a second screen on the same laptop... Then I found this, OMG...

yeah only 7 560€ ;D
1 more thing: If I use the machine with the display turned all the way up (400 nits) I get right at 2 hrs of life. When I need to extend the life I will run the brightness at 1/2 (200 nits which is about the same as full bright on a normal machine!)... in this mode I can get 3.5 hrs from the machine (doing email, powerpoint, running on WLAN). I've never tried to run the CPU/GPU at full speed with the battery.. in this mode I would expect 1.5 hrs of life but I think this is a very rare.
