Last weekend, we headed up to Berkley, CA to see the 2010 Small Scales Only Meet held at Golden Gate Live Steamers in Tilden Park. There were quite a few engines there, and I got to operate Santa Fe #471 on their ground track and their highline. All in all, it was a great meet, and I had a lot of fun.

  • Great footage!

Why do you ride side saddle on elevated tracks in the USA instead of having one leg on each side with stirrups on the riding truck like we do here in Australia?

  • @EastwoodBirds We were advised to ride side-saddle so that if the engine did take a plunge, there would be more of a chance to jump off and catch it.

  • @DJRail3751 Well, he is the chairman of the meet...so... Also, as far as I know, Matt doesn't have a 1" scale SP Pacific, but I believe the Pacific you're thinking of is owned by another fellow whom I last saw in 2007.

  • @DJRail3751 Of course I am, David. Why wouldn't I? :)

  • @DJRail3751 Yeah, it was definitely fun to run on.

  • hell yeah
