Singin' Sam, the Barbasol Man, aka Harry Frankel - old-time radio personality. Back in the days before TV, radio provided much of the family entertainment. My father once mentioned having been fond of Singin' Sam when he was growing up. I recall a family reunion when his oldest brother (born circa 1915) sang in an interesting, somewhat dramatic style. Only later, after finding the Morrisson-Reeves Library collection of all things Singin' Sam, did I realize how much my uncle's style had been influenced by Sam, who was a national radio figure in the 1930s and 40s. This song was provided by the library, and is posted here with permission.

For more music and information about Sam, visit the Morrisson-Reeves Library Digital Collections online at http://mrlinfo.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm4/about.php. Or I suppose they might have even more items available if you are ever at their location in Richmond, Indiana. That's the town where Harry Frankel lived for many years, and where his family later donated many of his Singin' Sam items to the library.
