Wow! Seems like someone has beef with this 70 something native grandmother. In fact, my grandmother. She is one of my personal heroes and biggest inspirations in this world. For that reason, I will always refuse to to work for Big Gold. 70,000 lbs of water a minute! No ranch on earth uses that.
She talks about grabbing water to make green grass, but what she doesn't tell you or show you is that their home is the greenest in the valley. YOu can see it for miles and miles it is so green.
they don't mention that most of their family works out at these mines and have for over 40 years. they are willing to work there, get the high pay, full insurance coverage, stock options. My brother and other family work at this mine and I know what the financial side of working here is, and they are very well off....even the Indians who work out there.
@brittneySKAvoovie Until recently..when you heard there was going to be a pay out? Every Western Shoshone family knows about the Treaty of Ruby Valley and its shocking you and your family know nothing? It doesn't add up. And you do a "little" research? C'mon. Its sad that you have to Youtube your own culture when you're bored! Do you know what the cut off date was to be eligible? And what documentation was required and the deadline to be eligible?
Harry Reid was "elected" senator of Nevada yet again, and along with the money coming in at the end of March, Yucca Mountain will not stop and there will be more mines and more pollutants to destroy what was our land. I know this post is sloppy, I'm just writing as this all comes to mind. I wish more people cared like you did Carrie. RIP <3
I've read extensive posts and blogs about the whole ordeal surrounding this thing. It's sad that I am one of none who has logged on to the internet to see what this is all about. Our people have been used and swayed with this money. When you do the math, the Western Shoshone signed off every acre for 5$ each.
I am a Shoshone girl, and am 19 years old. A few years ago, whenever I was bored I would youtube Western Shoshone and would see this video pop up. I never watched it...until recently, I've heard and will be receiving the money. I had no idea why i would so I thought I would do a little research. It hurts and angers me so much that none of my family knows why this money is coming to us and what they have given away to receive this dirty money.

The value of Gold is that it has sustained her family since the gold mines have been there.

Evidently...the gold mine in the area yields enough gold to make a medium sized finger ring from every sixteen tons of of removed earth...
