Part two of our visit to Normandy with authentic, WorldWar-Two vehicles, filmed in june 2004. We stayed at an all Dutch campingsite, reserved for members of 'Keep Them Rolling' a Dutch club for owners of WW2 vehicles. Security was very strickt because the queen of england was due to visit Normandy, hence the helicopters you see in the film, patroling the coastline. It was my best holiday ever. Driving around in the jeep, you feel like you singlehandedly liberated the place, the way people cheer you on. Especially schoolchilderen loved to watch us go by. We got filmed and photographed thousands of times. It was great!!

  • was that a Lancaster that flew over you at the end ?

  • Yes, well spotted. It was the Lanc from the Battle of Britain memorial flight, together with a spitfire and a mustang. Awesome sound to hear 6 merlin engines fly over. Gave me goosbumps :)

  • great!! Nicely done, very moving moment is when some people solutes during the convoy moves into the city :) It makes a special atmosphere there :) And planes at the endi od movie... excelent.

  • Well, this year will be the 65th anniversary. It'll be worth it to plan a trip. I wish I could go again this year but I have other plans and not enough money to do both. :(

  • Boy, I wish I was there....uh...that day, not the other one.

  • Please be so kind as to Kiss My Ass.

  • geweldig!

  • Thank you. Yeah it was a trip I'll never forget and not as much a circus as you may think. Everybody takes it very seriously. Good point about the germans. As you saw we didn't forget their side of the story. It was good fun riding in a convoy of allied vehicles and seeing german vehicles come towards you on the other lane. It felt like going through a time portal. And all the schoolkids in busses pressing their noses to the glass when we came by. Awesome! Glad you liked it.
