Barack Obama responds to hecklers

Senator Barack Obama held a town hall meeting in St Petersburg, Florida today (August 1st) to talk about the economic problems in the state.

During his comments, a group of hecklers, armed with a banner and shouting over the senator, the meeting came to a halt until Senator Obama got the group of about 8 to calm down. He told them he would allow them to present their question during the question section of the meeting.

This is a clip of that dialogue.

***8/3/08 Update: Many comments have been made about Senator Obama's response, I would like to point out that there is a lot of shouting, yelling and cheering that is hard to hear in this recording. This is, in part of, why the Senator appears to stutter during his response.

Where is the change? Why is our economy still in ruins? Why are so many still homeless? Why are the minority communities still treated like second-class citizens? Why do our leaders still turn a blind eye to poverty while their Wall Street bosses get VIP access to control every area of our lives? Why does our President preach change then patronize a citizen spilling his heart about his community's lack of improvement? Did Obama's response fix the issue? No. All it did was make us think it did.

@vonScarfman.......Eloquent? The man was very poorly spoken. I do agree miss Informed. He was ill-informed about the imaginary "attacks" on his people and where they come from. This poor fool is asking the criminal to be his lawyer in the prosecution of the crime against him. And as for the hurricane, please!..... Louisiana screwed that up for herself by turning away help from the government and Florida hurricane response team before Katrina even hit the golf! The Governor should be locked up!
