This vid is not a critique of Obama's administration per se, but a critique of our national media in general. As long as our entire Congress (both Republicans and Democrats) are beholden to the corporate lobbyists, who will finance their next campaigns, we are left with a status quo which will eventually usher in it's own destruction, taking the rest of us, with it. Financial oligarchs have taken over this nation, as well as many others, and they will protect their interests come what may. We must fight back, via peaceful means and non-cooperation and expose the LIES all around us. Ask yourself this: if Obama is painted as a socialist by the right wing media, then why are most of his economic advisors former high level executives on Wall Street? Conversely, when our so-called founding fathers proclaimed, that all men are EQUAL, is this NOT a socialist notion as well? Much can be learned from the past, if you actually check into it. But as always, let's just move along folks...and twitter away, with 140 characters per message, to start the next 'revolution'. Has anyone even considered that this twitter revolution is actually spinning in endless circles? Does it even matter, whether the US Dept of State asked Twitter NOT to make any changes to their site, while shit was hitting the fan in Iran? And were are all the tweety birds now? Most Americans can't even find Iran on a world map, let alone comprehend the internal power-struggles within that country. I am no different, although, I can still find Iran on a map. Until the maps are changed, of course. Not everything you hear through the OFFICIAL news here, evolves around America, for heaven's sake.

All points are valid...if you start thinking about it. I am for non-violent resistance...are you?

  • now a days they call the media in germany during ww2 "gleichgeschaltet". its the same in america today.. well and germany again lol

  • happosai21: yes, germany again, too.

I used to read SPIEGEL on a regular basis. No longer, since it's gotten so commercially biased, that you have to wonder, whether Springer Verlag owns their shares. I see this happening across the board in Germany, including the Sueddeutsche. Many publications, including DIE ZEIT, used to publish articles without editorial slants. It hasn't quite reached the level of so-called American' journalism' - but it is emulating it...which speaks volumes...

  • The dominant thought was also solidarity with our society, and that truth was what made things work best for everyone.

Now, there is a shameless arrogance that doing whatever you can get away with is smart. When the president of Benador, the PR agency that apparently was involved in spreading the false story that Iran was about to make its Jews wear identifying yellow stars was asked about it, she said it wasn't important if it was true or not.

  • boring..this lady is too slow.....

  • Media is propaganda and they do not report the truth anymore. It is only obvious they have questions ok'd before they ask.

  • Great vlog!

  • oh yes spiegel really went down the drain since stefan aust was removed a while ago. i never read other newspapers since i grew up with the internet and always got my news from there. mostly independent people which just collect and post it on their pages. no ehh.. populärgedöns and so called celebrities. the quality of private tv channel news really made a sharp downturn in the gossipsewer since 2002 here when murdochs newscorp bought their owners. RTLs punkt12 is the prime example

  • I wonder what Walter Cronkite's thoughts were before he passed. Hopefully he stopped watching the MSM news long ago, as I fear it would have been heartbreaking for him.

  • I love your channel. I might not understand everything you say (being either too tired from working all the time or my lack of real history training from public school) but I totally support your concern and truth movement.

  • Al-Jazeera did a good piece on the won't use words that aren't approved by the gov't....specifically enhanced interrogation/torture. I'll send it to you.

One thing to think about...Cronkite worked for a big corporate mainstream media. What made the difference between how things worked then, and how they work now? Well, media is more concentrated, but to a certain extent it is the social milieu I believe. Once upon a time, the *dominant* thought, the peer pressure, was to be honest.
