The dominant thought was also solidarity with our society, and that truth was what made things work best for everyone.
Now, there is a shameless arrogance that doing whatever you can get away with is smart. When the president of Benador, the PR agency that apparently was involved in spreading the false story that Iran was about to make its Jews wear identifying yellow stars was asked about it, she said it wasn't important if it was true or not.

Media is propaganda and they do not report the truth anymore. It is only obvious they have questions ok'd before they ask.

oh yes spiegel really went down the drain since stefan aust was removed a while ago. i never read other newspapers since i grew up with the internet and always got my news from there. mostly independent people which just collect and post it on their pages. no ehh.. populärgedöns and so called celebrities. the quality of private tv channel news really made a sharp downturn in the gossipsewer since 2002 here when murdochs newscorp bought their owners. RTLs punkt12 is the prime example

I wonder what Walter Cronkite's thoughts were before he passed. Hopefully he stopped watching the MSM news long ago, as I fear it would have been heartbreaking for him.

I love your channel. I might not understand everything you say (being either too tired from working all the time or my lack of real history training from public school) but I totally support your concern and truth movement.

Al-Jazeera did a good piece on the won't use words that aren't approved by the gov't....specifically enhanced interrogation/torture. I'll send it to you.
One thing to think about...Cronkite worked for a big corporate mainstream media. What made the difference between how things worked then, and how they work now? Well, media is more concentrated, but to a certain extent it is the social milieu I believe. Once upon a time, the *dominant* thought, the peer pressure, was to be honest.
now a days they call the media in germany during ww2 "gleichgeschaltet". its the same in america today.. well and germany again lol

happosai21: yes, germany again, too.
I used to read SPIEGEL on a regular basis. No longer, since it's gotten so commercially biased, that you have to wonder, whether Springer Verlag owns their shares. I see this happening across the board in Germany, including the Sueddeutsche. Many publications, including DIE ZEIT, used to publish articles without editorial slants. It hasn't quite reached the level of so-called American' journalism' - but it is emulating it...which speaks volumes...
