A pointless story from the border between Norway and Sweden

Images captured from a single viewpoint at the middle of the old bridge between Sweden and Norway (Svinesund bridge). Overlooking the new bridge and looking down at the surrounding areas by the sea in both Norway and Sweden.

Timelapse created with Panasonic GH2 and Zeiss 1,4/50 ZF with a Lensbaby TT tilt adaptor. I used a Schneider ND110 10-stop filter to achieve long exposures (1/2 - 1/15 sec) in manual cinema film mode with the GH2, which is very useful mode for shooting timelapse with faster framerates than possible with still cameras. The frame rates in this movie are between 2 fps and 15 fps.

I used a Manfrotto 035 Superclamp and a ball head attached to the bridge railing. Much easier to work with than a tripod at bridges.

The footage was shot in about an hour and the editing was finished in maybe 2 hours, so roughly 3 hours of work in total. That's a lot less than my previous projects with lens blur in post etc. :)

Most of the colour and look was set in camera (modified Vibrant film look) and only minor colour corrections in post. All focus pulls were done manually and carefully set with the lens during the shooting of the timelapse scenes. Tilt-shift miniature effects created optically with the Lensbaby tilt adapter.

I used the EX-tele mode on the GH2 for the cropped (tele) scenes and I was a little low on exposure with the 10-stop ND on, so some of the crop scenes are kinda noisy but hey - I'm pulling 260mm f/1.4 from a tiny 50mm prime lens and slapping a 10-stop filter in front! I could have used my fader or weaker ND for the crop scenes but I was really short on time and didn't wanna drop something really expensive down there. My brother nearly lost his glasses there when we were kids. His smokin specs were dangling over the edge til he got them back up! :)

The sound effects were downloaded from Freesound.org and respective user/owner of the CC licenses are credited in the titles at the end of the movie.
