Got the red one at Costco for $250 (01/2009). Downloaded the video to my Ubuntu PC (Linux). Used Kino and other software accessed through Kino to convert the video to DV format and then shrink it to MPEG 1 format for quicker uploading to Youtube. Shrinking it loses quality but was easier to upload 6MB vs. 44 MB MOD format and 132 MB for DV format.

  • Thanks. :)

  • Love your dog! It sounds like you did a lot of converting for youtube, isn't the point of this camera to use the one click youtube upload?

  • The video camera comes with software to do that. I didn't use it since I run Linux (Ubuntu) not Windows. But I have my doubts as to how good it is especially if you do some editing and put several videos together like I did on my other video clip.

Finally, I returned the video camera. There wasn't anything wrong with it. I barely used it on my vacation since I was carried my DSLR everywhere.
