@Ninjadelusion and I still say its better to read Barret's dialogue as Mr. T. Barret should not be "eccentric" in my opinion. He should be a hard-ass. His "funny" talk is actually more stereotypically black than anything attributed to Sazh except his hair. I actually though Cait Sith was more redneck than anyone for years given his propensity to say "Y'all." Of course Caith Sith is derived from irish folklore, but thats hardly a reason to be orthodox. bahamut was a babylonian fish afterall.

To be honest, I dont think Sazh was a racially motivated comic relief. It had a lot to do with him being slightly older. He does seem like an "eddie murphy" archetype though. As for Cid,you can interpret his dialect to be redneck or it can be interpreted in other ways. I always gave him a gritty, perpetually slighted and disgrunted "classic American" tough guy voice.

@Ninjadelusion Well, in all honesty, if you pay attention to the dialect choices in FFVII's spoken dialogue, there are some hints of Cid being red-neck-y, and Barret is definitely eccentric and talks funny. Not to mention the way the Japanese think black characters are for comic relief... Here's a fun challenge: play through FFXIII and note down every time Sazh is insulted, disrespected, invalidated, or exploited for a cheap laugh during the plot. It'll open your eyes to Japanese racism...

So we get XIII-2, which *no one* wants, but no VIIv2, which basically everyone wants. Some of them want it without even knowing it yet. :P So: way to pass up free money, Square. I've already bought 2x blacklabel FFVII's from you, and Advent Children, and Last Order, and Dirge of Cerberus (unfortunately). Why do you guys think I *wouldn't* buy FFVII for PS3??

Screw FFVII, I want a remake of FF VI, Kefka destroying everything in HD graphics would be awesome. :P

FFVII should not be remade because they'll be cheap like with every other remake and they will change shit in the plot and dialogue and minor details rather than strictly upgrading music and graphics.

If they remake FFVII they're only going to fuck it up. Like the other guy said, they took out the "Loveless" poster. They made some epically gay over-done Cloud intro instead of keeping it faithful to the original.

Voice actors suck. They made Cid a red-neck and Barret is supposed to sound like Mr--fucking--T. Not some eccentric token. Speaking of Cid and Barret, you think they wont change the script especially in respect to profanity? And Wall-market? Lol.
