Sorry, but he was not the little boy in the movie, "Black Orpheus". If you watch the credits, the names are different. Carlos was teenager & an extra in the crowded, parade scenes. He doesn't show up. We watched together at least 3 times.
Actually, Carlinhos IS the little boy in the movie. I personally know him, and have seen the photos. There was a legal dispute between the producers and Carlinhos' father over payment.
I beg to differ. He was born in '42, the movie came out in in the late 50s. Do the math. The kids in the film were younger than that: Jorge Dos Santos as Benedito Aurino Cassiano as Zeca . They look nothing like him & Carlinhos' legal name is neither of those. I wonder how that rumor started & it's all over the place. Just saw it on Wikipedia. Thought it was only in Hawaii. Pelo amor de Deus, chega de mentira, gente!
Of course, please do beg to differ. It won't change the truth. The reason you find the story all over the place is because it is Carlinhos's true story, one that is broadly known and celebrated throughout Brazil for over 50 years now. You are assuming that because he was small for his age, that he couldn't have been 14 yrs old. Oh well.
