Demonstration of how to play the intro to Led Zeppelin's BLACK DOG in 3 EZ steps. Originally Jimmy Page used a Les Paul and plugged it into a direct box, which was connected to the mixing board. He used the mixing boards' amplifier to get distortion. Once he did that, the sound was further manipulated with 2 Urei 1176 Universal compressors. Page had to play the main riff 3 times so it could be triple tracked on the sound board, thus, when the 3 guitar recordings were mixed together they helped to give his sound an aggressive Rock and Roll bite.
