Keith Olbermann looks at the myth behind criticizing the war and how it affects troop morale. Our contention: fighting a chaotic war with no clear mission is demoralizing. Questioning it is what they're fighting for.
Wouldn't the desertion rate in Vietnam have been higher because the soldiers were DRAFTED and did not want to even be in the military in the first place?
Do you have a friend or family member that has been deployed to Iraq?
I do.
I don't have to watch Olbermann or anybody else to know about Troop morale -- I can see it for myself. Desertion rates mean nothing.
Let's see what the desertion rate is after 10 or 12 years. If you're simply going by percentages, remember this: The amount of troops in Iraq is nothing compared to that of Vietnam, and they are being redeployed over and over. Thus, the percentages of deserters, or dissenters, will be proportionatley less. You may want to try tuning in to something other than Faux News now and then.
What a propagandist. Olbermann conveniently leaves out the top indicator of troop morale, the desertion rates.
Desertion rates of troops is at .24%, the lowest of any US war in history. Compare that to the Vietnam rate of 3.4%. Another BS report from BSNBC. They call this a "news" station, how laughable.
This is what happens when divergent views and debate are not allowed on the show, it turns into pure propaganda.
Paul Rieckhoff has spoken truth since the very beginning. He is all about the troops nothing more, nothing less. What he said about the standards being dropped shows how the poor are the main target for this meat grinder!
