@Senmerv in often cases it was simply genocide. The Ancient world is rife with it. That's how a lot if not most conquerors operated. Sad to say, things haven't changed much.

Every time I hear this song I have flashbacks to walking through the snowy woods at dawn just as spring was starting and the snow was starting to melt. Just the first 5 seconds of the intro is enough to put me in a very calm, awed mood.

I love Summoning, specially their Let Mortal Heros Sing Your Fame album. BUT the music doesn't suit this rubbish video. Roman invasion of the Gauls and others and the massacres were awfully disgusting, no matter how "glorious" and "valiant" they try to depict it...
