This product takes you to the next level of a unique Bharatanatyam style deeply rooted in the illustrious Pandanallur style that inspired Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale, the founder of Kalakshetra to create a structured curriculum and standardize the teaching methods. Based on this technique which went on to become a distinctive genre in itself as the Kalakshetra bani, it presents
Varnam, a colorful component in which the nritta, nritya and natya elements are finely juxtaposed
Keerthanam, a descriptive devotional piece that provides immense creative scope for a performing artiste.
Performed by Kalakshetra students in the sylvan surroundings of their alma mater, it sincerely captures the spirit and style of the institution. Each piece is preceded by a lucid introduction by a Kalakshetra faculty member which is at once educative and informative.

I understand that in the Kalakshetra style, the dancer must dance on concrete floor as suggested by Madam Arunadale...But honestly, that is about the worst thing that you can do with respect to the incredible strain that you put on your feet! Wooden floors are better for your feet. Of course having said that, Rukmani Devi Arundale is also the foremost authority on modern 20th-21st century Bharatanatyam.
