An international choreographic & dance project in progress. Inspired by the Clean Water miracle of Gautama Buddha.
One day Gautama Buddha asked his disciple Ananda to go get him some drinking water from a well. Ananda however repeatedly told The Buddha that the well was filled with grass and chaff, and thus not drinkable. However The Buddha continuously asked Ananda, so Ananda went to the well. As Ananda walked to the well, it is said that The Buddha with his power alone expelled all the grass and chaff from the well, so the water was radiant and clean.
The dance does not reflect the exact story of the miracle but includes elements of how people (miss)-communicate, fight and at the end resolve their differences in a mutual approach.
The choreography contains elements of contact improvisation and cultural inspired dance & martial art e.g. maculelê.
This is a project in progress.
The initial choreographers are Érica Niño Martínez & Guy Beaujot.
We intend to add elements from other choreographers and dancers in the future.
Note Brenda Fassie's 'VULI NDLELA' as part 3 of 'ANANDA'
'ANANDA' is a production of the UNESCO-IHE DANCE FACTORY.
UNESCO-IHE DANCE FACTORY is a dance workshop of participants & staff at the UNESCO-IHE INSTITUTE For Water Education in Delft.
