The flags era was the best look they ever had. Clearly influenced by Channel 5 with its less formal look and bright colours, but it had a personality of its own. The 1999 corporate branding took things several steps backwards, which of course led to what we have nowadays: a featureless, pared-to-the-bone, grey box of bad news. I wonder what it would look like these days if they'd stuck with the flags? It would be more interesting visually, at least.

The old weather map sure looks old now. I still love it more than the new graphics though :) It was more functional.
