Nafis - Sunny smile(original mix)

A young Russian producer by the name of Nafis makes his debut this week on Mistiquemusic. Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic's top imprint is now up to catalogue number 187 and shows no signs of slowing down.

Mistique continues to push the real progressive sound from both its staple artists and a wealth of fresh talent as well. Nafis certainly falls into the latter category as he is still quite early in his production career with a total of 9 releases thus far. His tenth is entitled 'Sunny Smile' and it comes with remixes from: Matteo Monero, Midnight Star, MSZ and Soulfinder. The 'Sunny Smile' original is a sparkling slice of melodic progressive house much in the vein of some of the older Anjunadeep material but with more musicality. It's got a great club groove with a well shaped bass line and overall the production is really tight. The track builds to a heart wrenching breakdown with one of the best piano pieces we have heard all year. Really emotional stuff from Nafis who looks like he has a bright future ahead of him.

Italy's Matteo Monero provides the first remix and he's added a wonderfully trippy element to it. Outstanding effects and processing on the original parts from Matteo on this remix. What he's done with the piano during the breakdown is absolutely amazing. He's kept the great overall vibe from the original but at the same time created something slightly different. It's a smoother, warmer feel on Matteo's mix which is a great compliment to the original version.

Serbian producer and head of Polaris Records ' Midnight Star' makes his first appearance on Mistique and provides the next interpretation here. This is only Midnight Star's third official release, he and Nafis collaborated together for the first release on Polaris entitled 'Out The And Back'. Midnight Star's 'Sunny Smile' remix offers a slightly different take on the lead line and overall the elements here are a bit more trance oriented. The added vocal elements and anthemic chords are great touches and should go down amazingly well in big rooms.

Toronto's MSZ is growing into one of favourite producers at the moment. The Polish born producer has grown leaps and bounds with his production this year and he just keeps getting better and better. His remix of 'Summer Smile' is bang on the money yet again. It's just got that cool progressive sound where everything works and flows perfectly together. MSZ's trademark wall of fuzzy low end frequencies never sounded so good as it wobbles and changes keys in epic fashion. It's a mix that's rich in atmosphere, depth and most of all emotional and it does all this while never losing sight of the dancefloor. Top work from MSZ.

Ireland's Soulfinder closes the package out with the final remix. Many of Soulfinder's recent productions including: 'Never Let Go' for Mistique and 'Satellite Circus' on his own 'Sleepless Nights' imprint have been Hype Chart Essential tunes and his remix of 'Sunny Star' is absolutely spectacular as well. Soulfinder's spacey, modern vibe turns Nafis' original into a deep atmospheric piece that is still rich in the emotion presented in the original. It's exactly the type of mix this package needed for some extra diversity and it closes the package out perfectly.

Great ambient melody over a solid kick. Very soulful and relaxing. A perfect example of how you can sit back and chill to trance rather than burning up the dance floor. Especially for couch potatoes like me who don't like to dance. Keep up the great work.
