To celebrate the 20th birthday of a modern classic, the trailer was recut and the film rereleased.

If you haven't seen it yet, watch this film.

  • I was exaggerating for comedic effect of course. What made AWIP so offensive to me, was that it was supposed to be a sequel to AWIL. When presented as a sequel to that film, it didn't just seem like the mediocre film that it was, it seemed more like an insult to fans of the original.

  • @elderberry9 To be fair, few sequels to classics live up to the original. Think Highlander 2. Wow. Now that made AWP look like Lawrence of Arabia.

AWP wasn't really a sequel to my mind since it played with new themes and ideas and involved none of the original characters. It took elements of the original premise and then cashe in on the success of the original title

  • @ChocolateFrogPrince From that perspective the producer would probably deserve a light flogging. Nothing so drastic as blocking him from making movies [can't comment on Utah. All I know is it's full of Mormons and has a thriving porn trade]. Just a few strokes with a birch to remind him to be original and not to try to cash in on a standalone great.

  • The people who made "An American Werewolf in Paris" should have been put on trial for crimes against quality film making, banned from ever making another movie, and then condemned to Utah for eternity.

  • @elderberry9 Little strong. Care to qualify? I mean, if I were going to level those accusations there seem to be so many more deserving objects of ire. Those responsible for Harold and Kumar for instance. Michael Bay would probably get my vote. AWP had plot, theme, structure, good actors executing their roles well. Subject won't be to everyone's taste but it's still a decent bit of film making by anyone's standards.

Can't say I'd agree with you, so... Care to qualify?

  • If there is a BETTER Werewolf film than AWIL I would like to hear about it. As far as I know, American Werewolf in London is the best Black Comedy in existence on film. Show me something better.

  • @asystolgod Oh. That's subjective. I'd point you to the classic Lon Chaney werewolf movies for a start. For sheer style you'd be hard pressed to better Brotherhood of the Wolf. Black comedy? Well, start with the daddy of them all; Dr Strangelove, then there's American Psycho, Fight club, Harold and Maude and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. There are others of course but this is just off the top of my head

AWIL is the best werewolf black comedy I have seen. I'll concede that.

  • An american werewolf in PARIS . was an insult to this GREAT MOVIE.. The FX's were laughable especially the transformation sequence.. They should have forgone the COMPUTERIZED FXs and stuck with TRADITIONAL ones..
