Pete and Toshi Seeger, their son Daniel, and folklorist bruce jackson visited a Texas prison in huntsville in March of 1966 and produced this rare document of worksongs by inmates of the Ellis Unit.

@TheOtherView well I'm not sure all music today's rooted in slave songs, but certainly a lot of it is, and slavery definitely has had a huge impact on all of our cultures. It's sad, but often the most awful, terrible things can lead to good things as well as bad. The human spirit's like a phoenix, it just keeps on rising from the ashes, no matter how many times you try to burn it out.

@TheOtherView Amen to you too brother. I am a Proud white man who willingly and lovingly has black men, women, and other creeds as freinds and co-workers. I don't judge on colour and why should anyone else. You judge the person on their actions and what they do. Not on their beliefs, creed or colour. To do that is totally and unjustly being racist.
