I wouldn't say it was "stolen", every luxury brand is part of a standard name brand, the features on the Prius were based on features on the Lexus hybrids, which is a luxury brand owned by Toyota, and since the Prius is from Toyota, how can it be stolen from themselves?

@randkprouductions He definitely means LED, you can see that there aren't n e projectors. There are a very select few production vehicles with full led headlights... the prius, escalade premium editn, new audi R8 and A8 as well as lexus's flagship vehicle. There are others but very few... very new technology. we are not talking about LED DRLs which started with audi and now we see everywhere on other models and as aftermarket mods. We are talking about actual driving and high beam lights.

i read that BMW is working on Lasers for headlights. Not a direct beam but pointing a blue laser into phosphorous to turn it white and behave like normal light. (then probably through a projector) The wavelengths are said to be .70x brighter per watt than LED and more comfortable on the eyes at night. As for the wallet you will probably hurt that a LOT

You really know what you are talking about. You are probably into hids too and hate the fake ebay halogen bulbs that are falsely labeled as HID. I know ;-)

The last year gen came with HIDs. 2010 comes with LED headlights for the V models.

@usbseawolf2000 none of models came with hids i own a prius myself, they are regular lamps with projectors

@siribiriz - Starting from 2010 model year (Gen3), HID is no longer available. LED is used in Prius Five. Halogen projectors are used in lower packages.

@usbseawolf2000 didn't know Gen 1 and 2 carried HID's why did they discontinue ? any idea?

@siribiriz Gen1 only had halogen. Gen2 was offered with HID option. Starting from 2006 model (refreshed), Gen2 started to use a new mercury free D4R bulb and ballast. That proved to be unreliable and there was a law suit for it. Gen3 now has LED option instead of HID. LED is more reliable and uses less electricity.
