The Jump Mary's Meals Fundraiser Spring 2009 Gaming Austria

Every semester the Franciscan University of Steubenville Gaming Campus students hold a fundraiser for Mary's Meals (www.marysmeals.org). This semester they auctioned off the faculty to jump in the river in Gaming. This years winners were Dr. Andrew Minto and Fr. Seraphim Beshoner. The donation was so large that we had a few extra bonus jumps - Fr. Brad LePage and Mark Kalpagian.

And7Rus Deacon Terasiy you are correct about the holiness of the Kartauserholler and the beauty of the mountains . I am a Doctor of Sacred Theology and taught at the Kartausa for 2 years. Weiked a pilgrimage to Mariezelle, the holy Shrine to Mary of the Cell, where Pope Benedict XVI came in 2007. We were there for his visit. You will like to know that there is a beautiful Eastern Right Chapel in the Kartausa in which the Holy Liturgy is celebrated regularly.

You are most welcome. The little stream is high and cold this time of year as it comes from snow melt from the Otscher and surrounding mountains where the snow is still 3-4 feet deep and the ski runs still open.

Everymorning we were coming to this stream Mitterraubach in the Slavonic Alpen village Gaming (centuries ago Yamnic or earlier Yamnica) with prayer and calm and modest baths of cold waters from Otscher. Even in winter us joined holy angels of our Most Holy Trinity and prayers of monks of Kartauserholle of Swarzberg (Karthausian monastery of Black-mount nearby). Now it is a Nature-park and path to the pilgrimage to Holy Theotokos Mary.
