This video shows a 400-gram unmanned aircraft flying fully autonomously using the optiPilot control strategy (using computer mouse sensors) for flight stabilization, terrain following and collision avoidance. GPS is used on top of optiPilot to provide global guidance. The video shows a flight at low altitude (around 9 meter height) in a natural outdoor environment over agricultural terrain with two copses of trees requiring efficient collision avoidance action.

  • Resolution using a 10 MP camera from 400 foot altitude is about 3 cm. From 2,100 feet it is about 12 cm.

  • Amazing, very nice

  • Did you develop this system yourself? Amazing...

I would love to find out about your development experiences.
