Airdrie - Bathgate Rail Link Part 1

Footage of the new Airdrie to Bathgate Line, taken from Spitfite Railtours' Poppy Mini-Tour, the first public passenger train to traverse the line.
In this case we are heading west (from Bathgate towards Airdrie), and Part 1 (this video) contains Bathgate to approximately the West Lothian / North Lanarkshire border.
Part 2 contains the remainder through to Airdrie.

I'm sorry the sound isn't great. It was rather windy, especially when moving at speed. If it really annoys you, you can always turn it down or even off. Maybe you could play some music over it. I thought of doing that for you, but not everyone would like my music, and WMG would probably haul it off anyway. :)

Did they relay ALL of the track or was some of the route still in use for goods trains?

I like the roar of the wind, it gives the clip a good atmosphere!

Many thanks to Gordanovich for this momentous journey in such characteristic weather. I saw one of the last trains rounding Hillend Loch picking up odds and ends before the final lifting when I was returning from a visit to parents in Edinburgh. It was such a joy seeing the return of the route in your video, and being at the end of a really long train. Note to me:- Do the Helensburgh - Edinburgh trip by club 55 - and a little bit more.
