I seriously injured my left knee while backcountry skiing on a Saturday afternoon near the Continental Divide in early March. It hurt and bled so much, on the trail, that I almost vomited (I don't know why I'd have that kind of reaction to an injury but I did...). So, as you can see from all of the associated videos, I made my way back to Denver over a slippery and congested Interstate 70 to Kaiser Permanente's after-hours clinic in Lakewood (the only one I could remember the location of that was close to the highway).

The medical staff at Kaiser gave me immediate attention and spent a lot of time and effort cleaning, prepping, and suturing the wound. You can see all of their efforts in the associated videos I've posted. I ended up with seven (7) stitches after making it to their after-hours clinic.

Here's my personal web page about backcountry skiing (I still enjoy it despite the injury...):

  • Dude.... did you drive with an injured knee....in less than good road conditions.....while you were filming? You are truly lucky and tough for that one

  • @uyguyg65

Thanks! Yes, I did all of that while driving back to the hospital in Denver. Can't say it was the smartest thing I ever did...

  • I've seen much worse. Accidently cut a 13cm wound with a chainsaw, near my footing and drived to the hospital too. But i had certainly a shorter way to the hospital than you. Like three miles but then i was 17 and had no driver licence...

Hope you'r knee is okay:) It's always bad to get injured near the knee.

    Anyway, how is your knee?

  • My knee is okay now, 3 months later, but will never be the same as it does bend as easily//freely as it did before...

  • Filming while driving, are you kidding me

  • Good point! Be safe and don't ever, EVER video record or film while you're driving! It's dangerous - especially when it's slick and snowing like in this video!!
