Speak out for REAL health care reform at http://millionfaxmarch.com, to send a fax to all your members of Congress calling for them to forget about any other bill and pass economical and efficient Medicare for All (HR 676) NOW!!
The presentation of this ad in nice, but your conclusion is wrong. Get government OUT of medicine. Take away their ability to legislate on issues that benefit corporations and the corporations will have no reason to bribe our political figures!
@styrofoamheart Thanks for the apology. I do agree there's a cost-benefit relationship in most things. I just think the government is very inefficient with the money it gets and is not a good buy for the money. You can see this in the public schools which spend twice as much money as private (even charters with similar demographics) and have worse results. We may have to agree to disagree if you fear the free market forces more than government!
@ShaunaDDye sorry about the name calling. it's obvious we both fear unchecked power. you just feel that the unchecked power is the gov't or the liberals, i'm not really clear on that one, and i think it's the break down of gov't. there are plenty of analogies i could use, but you never seem to get them. like just because your experience with a particular car is bad doesn't mean the whole idea of a car is bad. everything has a cost benefit relationship. even gov't.
@styrofoamheart I feel like I"m debating a kindergardener. You constantly resort to name-calling and putting down of an opponent rather than focusing on ideas. I won't bore you with my academic credentials because frankly, I have nothing to prove to you. Good luck living in your world where there's always an evil insurance company or world banker controlling the levers!
@ShaunaDDye Google blue cross and cancer. you might be covered if blue cross is in the mood to pay. or you might get automaticallt dropped until you can find a lawyer and sue.
"In a remarkable 4,200-word account published today, Reuters reported that WellPoint developed and used computer software to automatically trigger fraud investigations of breast cancer patients so the insurer could search for phony excuses to dump them."
now i'm going to block you. mostly because you're not bright.
@MisterEvil1 Did I say there should be no government? I'm not advocating for anarchy. There are specifically enumerated responsibilities for government in the constitution. Providing for my healthcare is not one of them.
@bgbreakdown by the way, my family has such a plan where we have a really high deductible (5500) and pay for everything out of pocket until the deductible is met. That way, we're covered if something really horrific happens. Other than that, we pay for our regular upkeep. Our monthly premium is about 330. This plan is through Blue Cross. You can find such a plan if you're interested as well!
@bgbreakdown the government is just another middle man (and an inefficient one at that!) I would prefer a true free market in healthcare in which we just pay directly for service. That way, doctor's would compete with lower pricing and we would know how much each service costs. We could still have catastrophe coverage, just as we have home insurance for a fire, but pay out of pocket for expected repairs (roof, furnace...etc)
Hon, do you know how much American consumers pay to insurance companies so their CEOs can make 100+ million a year? If 1/4 of what we spend on the middle man went to allow the government to serve that function instead of for-profit corporations we'd get a lot more from our money. No? I'm going broke keeping my family on Blue Cross. Over 1K a month!
