...But 2-step's favorite R&B goddess is Aaliyah, whose Timbaland-produced "One In A Million" has been extensively pillaged. Best of the bunch is Groove Chronicles's "Stone Cold", which samples a handful of vocal phrases ("you don't know/what you do to me," "desire," and other splinters of yearning) and deploys them to create endlessly fresh accents against the groove. The original song's mood is totally subverted: what had been a devotional paean becomes a baleful ballad of sexual dependency, with Aaliyah digitally dis-integrated into a multitracked wraith of herself, stranded in a locked groove of desolated desire.

"An essential, sexy, absolutely prime tune. In my personal opinion, no Garage set should be without this. From the build up piece by piece through the spine tingling addition of the rumbling bass, this is an essential iconic tune. Quite basic throughout, it is beautiful in its simplicity, and always instantly recognizable. Very jazzed out, smooth and laid back, always a pleasure to listen to, and one sure to bring smiles to the faces of true Garage heads."

"Stone Cold" is a stone cold classic 2-step jam. The beautiful mellow into features smooth sax samples over rolling El-B beats and Aaliyah vocal samples sliced up throughout. Then it breaks down and the growling bass comes in before tougher beats come in to roll it out to the end of the track, bringing back in the other elements bit by bit. This track seems to be gaining momentum from the popularity of Burial, who cites El-B as an influence."~pipecock

Uk Garage 2-Step: More feminine in nature. Female vocals, romantic themes, and a contrast to drum & bass's more masculine side, 2-step was the most widely adopted period for Garage at the time...thanks to all Remixer who love Babygirl...!
