This is the last of my re-uploads. Try as I might I have never found anywhere on the web that has the words for the verse (although I have them somewhere on an old pianola roll).

  • Chicago, Chicago, that toddlin' town, Chicago, Chicago, I'll show you around. Bet your bottom dollar you'll lose the blues In Chicago, Chicago The town that Billy Sunday could not shut down. On State Street, that great street, I just want to say They do things they don't do on Broadway; say, They have the time, the time of their life - I saw a man, he danced with his wife In Chicago, Chicago my home town.
  • @Fiftiesflashback Thanks for these lyrics. Do you know the verse as well?

  • you never fail to amaze me ! So authentic sounding to the 20's era :{)

  • @hotsickle - Thankyou very much. Nicest comment I've had and very much appreciated. Cheers, Simon.

  • @PianoFatso I have the verse on vintage 78s in storage. On one version, the verse comes in before the first "Chicago, Chicago" like an introduction. Another version has it as an interlude between the two "chicago" refrains. I'll look for it for you when I can.

Chicago, Chicago, I'll show you around - I love it

Bet your bottom dollar you'll lose the blues in Chicago

Chicago, the town that Billy Sunday could not shut down

On State Street, that great street, I just want to say

They do things that they never do on Broadway - hey

They have the time, the time of their life

I saw a man, and he danced with his wife

In Chicago, Chicago, Chicago, that's my home town
