Other than what I wanted to ego, upgrade, or my expensive stuff, he actually seemed to have better than 90% success. I've used him since early Gen 1, and still use him on my little bit of weapons I have.

I think of it like this. Lets say you go cheap and buy a Melka chainmail for 400k. You have 45 durability to play around and you use it until it hits 0. Taking it to Ferghus would cost 27k to repair in full. Taking it to Edern would cost 250k. Note that by the time you repair it twice you have already paid more then it costs to buy one. So even if you have to replace your Melka after every 2 Ferghus repairs you still make money compared to one set repaired at Edern.
