I'll tell you what we should do: remove the 'Canadian ownership' restrictions on telecoms here and let Verizon come in and slap Shaw around. You want to keep paying 3x for slow internet just because Jim/Brad Shaw are Canadian, hint: they don't care about they're fellow Canadians enough not to gouge us.

Lastly, this video is olllllld news which makes me suspect a lot of these comments are made by novus employees......anybody can get 10 bucks a month deals from shaw by calling in and talking with a rep....and NO shaw deals have contracts, sigh, this video/comments are just ridiculous.

@CCRider100 Again, Novus is the one that uses their business contacts to COMPLETELY block competitors from installing services in their buildings. There are Novus buildings where if you want telus, tough, want shaw? tough. want bell? no way. Not allowed to be installed in that building because NOVUS is owned by the people who build these towers. Tell me now, how is that fair???

@PhiGuy you are obviously a nob, verified by your triple post....Shaw is the only one offering speeds like that, and guess what, when I was on Nitro I RAPED that bandwidth, I had TERABYTES of data being transferred, and they never ONCE contacted me about going over. Its a deterrent is all....I recently switched to telus so my gf could get the free laptop, HUGE mistake....speed isnt anywhere NEAR shaw, and guess what? They certainly did charge me for every MB over my limit.

Shaw is a real disappointment - I just switched to Shaw for cable internet service - expensive service 50mg/sec download for $107 / month. With a "guideline" of 250 GB/month downloaded date. FIne. Three months later, the deal changed to a "limit" of 175GB / month with an additional charge of $1.00 / GB over the limit. I found out by accident. No notice, nothing. I did the math: at 50 mg/sec, you would use up your entire 175 GB limit in about an hour. After that, it would be $180/per hour.

Might is rarely right - large corporations wiling to give away a product to put other competitors out of business, in the long run, is very bad news for the consumer. Shaw's "generosity" will not last and, as has been my painful experience, they will use their monopoly to screw the consumer as hard as they can get away with.

@spacemanspiff33 - waaa waaa waaa.
Why cant businesses stop whining about what the other guys are doing, and focus on their own strengths? "
Uhm, because its dirty business practice, yes that's right even a business should have ethics.
There are valid reasons why this type of predatory behavior should be frowned upon, and I am a long time Shaw customer.

waaa waaa waaa.
Why cant businesses stop whining about what the other guys are doing, and focus on their own strengths? If novus internet is so great, why cant they just focus on that? Their pricing seems reasonable, and if it is THAT much better than shaw, any idiot would pay the extra 20 bucks for it.
Also, if they want everything to be fair, why is it that Novus likes to have developers block shaw from installing services, to ANY customer?
GIVE THE CONSUMER THE CHOICE.
Stop Whining!!!!
"Novus provides the best internet service in the country. I wouldn't switch to Shaw if they gave it to me for free for 100 years."
Which is exactly what I told the person knocking on my (secured, I question how they even got access to my floor) door.

Wow.
I live in the US but that's dirty. Once shaw drives novus out of business they'll raise the rates to HIGHER than everybody else to recoup their losses. Don't they have a predatory law in Canada?
