  • Thank you! I was going to try a Dremel tool on this, and your method looks a lot easier and more effective.

  • Don't feed the trolls.

  • thank you sir

  • @39ynnoj Sure, just don't call someone a "fucking phonee" until you post a vid of YOUR sharpening method...

  • @eepmac Please tell me, this 'master woodworker' how long has he been woodworking? I am learning directly from a man who has been making furniture for the last 47 years.

Sharpen your saws as you please, allow me to carry on doing it the 'wrong' way

  • @39ynnoj And you are likely (or should be) using a back saw (miter saw, dovetail, dozuki, brassback) which is a rip cut saw. In this video, he is sharpening a cross cut saw... Search for "Saws part 2: sharpening a cross cut saw." Tom Lie-Nielsen is a master woodworking tool maker, and is responsible for designing some of the best tools in the industry. The video is incredibly detailed, but does a good job of explaining how cross cut saws cut and how they are best sharpened.

  • @eepmac I don't really need to look it up, I must have sharpened a saw about 30 times already and never goes wrong. And I'm not even doing general carpentry, I'm doing FINE WOODWORKING!!!

  • @39ynnoj Firstly, he meant 90 degrees with respect to the axis going up and down, i.e. parallel to ground. In the video, he had the file parallel to the ground but not at 90 with respect to the side of the blade. Secondly, it is imperative that you sharpen both sides, as it looks to be a crosscut saw, where the edges of each tooth are beveled alternately left, right, left, right, etc. If you sharpened each tooth on the same side, the saw would push itself sideways during the cut. look it up!

  • NO TIENES NI IDEA

  • God this takes me back I was ok with hand saws and panel saws but not dove tail saws it was a disaster for me too easy to balls up. I got that mad i just filled all the teeth off . Thanks for sharing.
