@hghost08 Seriously, I guess he never heard of Frank Lucas who at one time had more power than the Italians in New York. They came to HIM for their drugs. The creators of this show, one was a former Baltimore PD detective, the other was a beat writer for the homicide section of the Baltimore Sun who rode with police for over a year and then spent a year in the streets with dope fiends. Obviously this shit is not hollywood-ized. This show is the realest expression of street life TV ever produced.

The Sicilian Mafia got a large percentage of the profits earned by the American Mafia's drug operations (Cosa Nostra sold heroin wholesale to American Mob). Seriously, Avon is based on a real drug kingpin from Baltimore. Hell,the guy who played the Reverend in later seasons,Melvin Williams, was also big time in Baltimore.
