@EvanAsper8 Moreover, it was a pandering joke! Who says? Maines herself! They were pandering to the anti-war crowd in Europe for profit, and nothing more. It is one thing to have a strong sincere sentiment on a subject, but to do the kind of bashing they did for money was unforgivable, and they found that out. You are spot on, EvanAsper8!

@Grant117 Where do you start? The comment in London? followed by an apology, then a denial that it was a true sentiment in their first stateside interview? The actual recording of Maines calling it a JOKE in their own movie? Or later when she said she didn't want to be called a flip flopper...and changed her mind a second time? Just which "opinion" do you say was sincere? It was a pandering joke on a subject millions were having to take deadly serious. An epic Flip Flop Fail.

@EvanAsper8 And everyone else in response to the dixie chicks uninformed opinions gave them their reaction. Sure, have your own opinion, but that doesnt mean everyone should agree and like you for it. What if the dixie chicks stood up there and said "I hate black people." Yeah it's their opinion, but really? Come on, their message was a hate message about their own president who is the face of the nation you live in.

They were known for their music... not for being intelligent political figures. So when you give a public statement, it's best to stick to what you know, rather than branching out to a zone where they are ignorant.

Shows how much freedom of speech gets you in America. They only said how they felt. I am Canadian and think Bush was the biggest ass around. All he wanted was war!!
