On March 20, 2010, we attended the show at the House Of Blues. We sent a note on stage requesting the band to play "Ordinary Day" for our friend Laura. Laura was a huge Great Big Sea fan, and she was hoping to make it to this concert. Sadly, she died from cancer two months before this show. The positive lyrics to this song were frequently quoted by Laura. "I've got a smile on my face and I've got four walls around me." No matter how bad things looked, she remained positive, happy, and full of humor and grace.
We miss you Laura! Love, the Chicago Road Trip Girls.
"Wey hey hey it's just an ordinary day, and it's all your state of mind. At the end of the day, you just have to say it's alright."
It's hard to be sad when I hear this song! Not a day goes by that I don't think of Laura or am reminded of her strength, wisdom, guidance or advice. She will live on in the hearts of all who loved her! Take time today to tell someone you LOVE them, because in Laura's own words "The clock's ticking!" and remember...it's all your state of mind. At the end of the day, you've just got to say it's alright!!
