Yeah, but all that happened before the attack on Seattle, which is the first mission in the game. Then you have to blow up a bridge, defend Pine Valley, go into the mountains, and nuke that town.
Then, if flashes back to a few months before the invasion of Seattle, were there are missions in France you have to do, then missions in Russia itself you have to do, then you have to win back the New York islands, then it flashes back to the nuke.
So, these Russian missions are prologue missions.

@eldelbarrio1 Not on the mission he's using. This is one of two missions in WiC that involve America/NATO attacking the USSR. It was part of a prologue in the game.
