Part of Dance Umbrella 2009. Shobana Jeyasingh returns to Dance Umbrella with a bold and stylish double-bill including the world premiere of a brand new work. Her excited restlessness (The Times) results in a constantly evolving, explosive mix of Indian classical and western contemporary styles in which she explores and exposes the often hidden polarity within the urban experience. The atmospheric FAULTLINE, a work that was widely praised on its first outing in 2007, features eight of the companys finest dancers and is set to a compelling score by Scanner. The piece also includes original film by Pete Gomes shot in Southall and Brick Lane. The athletic dancers and fierce dynamism of Faultline contribute to a revealing reflection of turbulent tensions amidst British-Asian youth today.
