Mischa Maisky plays this concerto wonderfully well. He is an amazing cellist. I have been an enormous fan of his since I first heard his wonderful quality in the later 1970s. He has always been amazingly musical. Superb warm tone together with staggering great technique.

Consider the quality of the video. For example, when the camera zooms in, his cello becomes more dark red color. Maisky always plays the same cello i think.

my hgh school teacher wont let me play this...says the orchestra part is so difficult...i dnt kno is it? i jus love the solo even without the accompianment...amazing whole nother world.....ahh that french horn....love

well, but you're about to play cello part, not the orchestra part, aren't you? then i can't see any point why the fact that this is difficult for orchestra matters ;)
btw, it's not the easiest concerto for the soloist, yet beautiful and worth spending some time on it (;
