What Linux needs is a basic installation service that automates any installation with a simple user friendly wizard such as the Windows Installer engine inside Windows operating systems. Linux is just horrible for a new user when your trying to install something. To be able to just double click to install them would be amazing instead of needing to revert to a command line. I'm Windows orientated in knowledge and in Uni course but would like to learn Linux but I feel like a child again with it.
@FAB12UCB Linux is an Open Source operating system. There are a lot of different versions of Linux. The most popular are Ubuntu, Mandriva, KDE and etc... It's kinda tough to explain.
@jdcresswell Linux isn't that bad for new users if you show them how easy to use a built-in package manager to install software.
