Here's a fire pump for a 33 floor building. puts out nearly 300 psi with pressure reducers for lower floors. we used a garbage chute inspectors test to make it turn on. at about 1:30 you can hear the jockey pump kick on...i'm surprised it was able to keep up for the most part until the big boy turned on! also you can see water coming out the sides of the pump...the packing needs to be replaced....it been tighten as far as it can go...oh the volvo is a 12.1L ....it's been so long time since if posted and this is a new camera...what do you think? better or worse quality for sound and picture?

  • Wrong gauge on pump discharge - deduct 120 points for Hufflepuff

  • @ltm0011 it was like that. it was our first time here. so technically I shouldn't lose any points cuz we didn't place it on the pump in the first place!

  • this install is not to code, check the inlet piping.

  • @adam900r please explain.

  • Very nice., sounds good.

If I may ask, what is a garbage chute inspector's test?

  • it's a test point that we use to flow water to simulate a sprinkler flow in the garbage chute.

  • @twoplyboy Fair play. Also adam900r is mistake. Inlet piping is fine.

  • @martylaurie This is correct. The inlet piping is fine. You need 10 pipe diameters before you can elbow horizontally. But because the 90 goes up, it's fine.

  • Not to code ?

Read the new standard, vertical change of direction is fine.

Good test, packings leaking and higher PSI gauges are needed.

  • can you explain....

    please

  • can you please explain....

  • @silvafaedo 10 pipe diameters only applies to horizontal elbows, not vertical.

  • you should see the fire pumps on naval ships, i saw the motor on one, it was rated at 115hp!!

  • @twoplyboy :

The suction has a elbow, less 10 diameter distance
